2011 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All are highly capable trucks, even those loaded with luxury features. The f-150 was completely redesigned for 2009. For 2011, ford f-150 features an entirely new engine lineup, and most 2011 f-150 models come with electric-assist steering. smooth and quiet, the f-150 is comfortable on bumpy streets around town, over rugged terrain like construction sites, farms and utility roads, and on the open highway. Its steering is nicely weighted and requires little correction on the highway making it nice for long cross-country tows. Yet even the least-expensive f-150 isn't boring; it leaves room for customization, does the work required and keeps overhead down. with one of the deepest beds in the segment, the f-150 has generous cargo volume out back and a maximum payload rating of 3,060 pounds; most versions carry 1,600-2,100 pounds. Any cab model f-150 can be optioned to tow more than 11,000 pounds; the range varies from 5,500-11,300 pounds. (the ford super duty line of heavy-duty pickups is covered in a separate new car test drive review.) two v8 and two v6 engines are offered, all with six-speed automatic transmissions. Standard on 2wd is a 302-hp 3. 7-liter v6. Other choices include a 360-hp 5-liter v8 for all cab/bed configurations, a 411-hp 6. 2-liter v8 on supercrew short beds, and a 365-hp twin-turbo 3. 5-liter v6 on all but regular cab/short beds. Several axle ratios are offered with each engine. a new 2011 f-150 xlt custom package slots between xlt and fx models. On the upper end are the king ranch, platinum and lariat limited models. The harley-davidson edition returns for 2011 with a 411-hp v8, the same engine now standard on the serious off-road raptor. Supercab trucks add higher fx and lariat trim to choices plus svt's raptor, and a short-bed option (about 5. 5 feet). A long-bed supercab is available only with the heavy-duty package. The supercrew f-150, available with either the short bed or standard bed, drops the stx grade and adds king ranch and platinum derivatives while harley-davidson and lariat limited are supercrew short bed only. the f-150 xl (starting at $22,415) is a standard bed, regular cab two-wheel drive. It comes with 3. 7-liter v6, 17-inch steel wheels, black bumper/grille/mirrors, and vinyl upholstery and floor covering. More equipment is available, including 18-inch wheels, sirius radio, sync, cruise control, fog lamps and power mirrors. f-150 xlt (from $26,685) adds chrome for bumpers and trim, power mirrors, remote keyless entry, automatic headlamps, carpeting, cruise control, power windows and locks, and better cloth upholstery. All manner of options are available on the xlt, including three wheel diameters, tailgate step, cargo management and towing equipment. f-150 fx4 and fx2 come with a 5-liter v8, black grille and body-colored bumpers, trim and mirrors. Options include infotainment and 17-inch (for more severe off-road use) or 20-inch wheels. Chrome trim and bumpers highlight monotone paint, and the lariat adds heated mirrors with signal repeaters and auto-dimming on the driver's and inside, dual-zone climate control, heated power leather seats with driver memory, leather wheel with redundant audio controls, tow package, sync, trip computer, and power adjustable pedals. Options include 20-inch wheels, heated/cooled front seats, sony sound and navigation, trailer brake controller, rear camera and park sensors, and moonroof. f-150 king ranch (from $41,790) is like a lariat with a different attitude. It adds two-tone paint and kr badges, unique wheels, mesh chrome grille, chaparral leather heated and cooled power captain's chairs with driver memory, running boards, and power folding, heated, signal outside mirrors with chrome caps. Options are essentially limited to a limited-slip differential, alternative axle ratios, 20-inch wheels, sony sound and navigation systems, moonroof, chrome tube running boards and remote start. f-150 platinum supercrew (from $43,600) gets a unique satin chrome grille, body-color bumpers and wheel lip moldings, 20-inch wheels, power-deploy/retract running boards, satin chrome tailgate trim, tuxedo-stitched leather power captain's chairs, wood grain and brushed aluminum trim, rain-sensing wipers, power folding/heated mirrors, and unique console. It comes only with the 411-hp 6. 2-liter v8. Most options are dependent on the model and other options, and many features are standard on more expensive models. In addition, prices of options occasionally vary by trim level. mechanical options include engine upgrades, alternate axle ratios, limited-slip or locking differentials, larger tires and upgraded wheels, skid plates, towing mirrors, snow plow prep (with 6. 2 v8), trailer brake controller 230), 36-gallon long-bed fuel tank, tailgate step, heavy-duty payload package, and ford works systems like an in-dash computer. Other upgrades include captain's chairs bucket seats with center console, power sliding rear window, rear-view camera (with or without navigation) reverse parking sensors, tri-coat or two-tone paint, moonroof 995), sirius radio, sound systems, remote start, and navigation. safety features that come standard include antilock brakes, stability control (advancetrac rsc), trailer sway control, frontal airbags, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Safety-related options include an integrated trailer brake controller, rear-view camera, mykey, and reverse park sensors. walkaroundthe angular lines of the ford f-150 mean it's easier to clean, easier to park, and gives maximum inside volume for outside space. Some bulge to the hood and large grille openings imply power, as does the higher altitude of 4wd models; many models have big graphics to ensure everyone knows what it is. The view rearward can be aided by extendable towing mirrors, a rear camera, and a power sliding rear window. We found the towing mirrors work very well. pillars between the doors (called b-pillars) and the rear hand-hold on the pillar may yield an awkward blind spot for some drivers, but everyone should appreciate the windshield pillars (called a-pillars) shaped to help preserve forward vision.

On april 17, 1964, the first mustang rolled onto the streets. Performance and style were its hallmarks and folks loved its long hood, short rear deck, and low profile. anticipating next year’s milestone, every 2004 mustang will have 40th anniversary badges on the front fenders. They also get special exterior and interior upgrades. Wind noise has been reduced on 2004 models through the use of improved sealing, and both the v6 and v8 engines benefit from some minor refinements. after all these years, the mustang still represents affordable performance and style. A base coupe, for example, retails for just $17,720 and cash incentives can knock a big chunk off of that. Mustang convertibles are popular and attractively priced. mustang gt models are a hoot to drive with their 260-horsepower v8 engines. Just don't expect sophisticated ride and handling. The mach 1 returns for 2004, boasting a 310-horsepower twin-cam v8, a sports suspension, and a shaker hood designed to remind us of the famous 1969 fastback. Production of the 2004 mach 1 will be limited, however. an all-new 2005 ford mustang is expected to go on sale in mid-2004. lineupbase models come with a v6 engine. High-performance gt models are powered by a v8. Each is available in coupe and convertible body styles. Convertibles feature a power top with a scratch-resistant glass rear window. A black semi-hard boot protects the top and gives the mustang a clean look with the top down. every 2004 mustang will have 40th anniversary badges on the front fenders. In addition, a new 40th anniversary package, a no-cost option, adds exterior and interior upgrades to v-6 and gt models. Of torque at 4000 rpm. To manage all that power, gt models are equipped with gas-pressure shocks with unique model calibrations, p245/45r17 performance tires on 17-inch alloy painted wheels, a traction loc rear axle, abs and traction control. Gts come with sport bucket seats and fog lamps. The v8 mates with a tremec five-speed manual gearbox with a tall fifth gear for improved fuel economy. Mach 1 gets a sports suspension (stiffer springs, special shocks and struts, lower ride height). Distinguished by its black shaker hood, the mach 1 5,575) is treated as a package. It also comes with special 17-inch wheels, special leather-trimmed seats, special interior trim, in-dash six-disc cd stereo, and special exterior graphics. the cobra is powered by the supercharged svt 4. 6-liter v8 from ford's special vehicle team. The svt v8 produces 390 horsepower at 6000 rpm, with 390 pounds-feet of torque at 3500 rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Cobra comes shod with p275/40r17 tires and loaded with special interior and exterior trim. standard safety equipment includes safety belts with pretensioners to tighten the lap belt and shoulder belts in the first moments of a crash. Energy-management retractors gradually slacken the safety belt if necessary to help reduce the force of the belt on the occupant's chest. The rear fender air intake, for example, has sharp corners and pronounced lines; but the rocker panels curve out, and the fenders have pronounced front and rear wheel well arches. The front end features wraparound complex reflector headlamps with integrated side marker lamps, combined with a square-edged honeycomb grille and a chrome pony. Tricolor front fender badges recall the good old days, as does the prominent but non-functional hood scoop. In back, it's 1965 with vertical, three-element taillamps. gt models get unique hood and side-scoop treatments, along with fog lights and a rear spoiler. mach 1 is easy to spot with special trim that starts with its shaker hood scoop. Attached directly to the top of the engine, the black scoop rears its head through a squarish hole in the mach 1 hood. (hood scoops on gt models sit on top of the hood.) a bold low-gloss black stripe runs up the center of the powerdome hood to accentuate the scoop. In theory, the scoop is designed to channel fresh air into the intake for increased breathing and, therefore, increased power. the 40th anniversary package, a no-cost option for 2004 mustangs, is distinguished by arizona beige metallic performance stripes on the hood, lower rocker panels and deck lid. Arizona beige metallic accents upgraded wheels (16-inch for the v-6 and 17-inch bullitt wheels for the gt). The 40th anniversary models are available in an exclusive crimson red exterior, as well as black and oxford white, with body-colored, fold-in side mirrors. interiorthe mustang cockpit is a little quieter for 2004. New expandable foam seals designed to reduce wind noise are used around the body, particularly the outside door handles and belt moldings on both doors. convertibles and coupes offer about the same amount of room in the front seats. Either way, it's a cozy interior. There's enough seat-track length to accommodate tall drivers and just enough elbowroom to keep from feeling cramped. Seatbelts are attached to the seat frames so they move with the seats. The package includes unique floor mats with an embroidered 40th anniversary logo and a matching badge on the center console. the mach 1 tachometer and speedometer use a tall condensed typeface and more hash marks that make it harder to read than the gauges in the gt models. The instrument panel, center console and headliner are color-keyed. To turn on the headlights, pull out an old-fashioned knob on the left. The center console includes cup holders. svt cobra models offer front bucket seats with nudo leather trim and suede inserts. The driver's seat features six-way power with power-adjustable thigh and side bolsters, and power lumbar support. Clearly, these seats are made for serious, fast driving. Switches are on the right-front corner of the seat. The svt instrument cluster has been redesigned to include a boost gauge. The gauges feature titanium-colored faces and electroluminescent lighting. The cobra's gearshift knob is leather-wrapped, with a brushed-aluminum insert on the top, inscribed with the six-speed pattern. Metal-trimmed pedals and dead pedal are standard. the back seat is small, with only enough room for small objects or kids. Convertibles have even less hip and shoulder room than coupes, but about the same headroom and legroom. the trunk is small with an even smaller opening. Coupes hold just under 11 cubic feet worth of cargo, while convertibles hold just 7. 7 cubic feet. A split fold-down rear seat is standard and handy for hauling cargo. driving impressiondriving the ford mustang confirms it is a throwback to another era. A mustang gt has more than enough power to break the rear wheels loose. The firm suspension transmitted freeway undulations, and there is some side-to-side jouncing on rough surfaces, but this car makes us feel happy. the engine sounds so good, so deep and thunderous, it might be the most enjoyable thing about the car. New, more refined and more capable. introductionthe 2008 ford super duty pickups feature new styling inside and out along with a re-engineered suspension that delivers a smoother ride. A new diesel engine and a new f-450 pickup are designed to handle the needs of ever-increasing agricultural, boat, and rv trailer weights. Other revisions and refinements are designed to address customer comment and stricter emissions standards. two words can define the 2008 super duty relative to the previous iteration: refined and more. With realistic expectations, any faults will seem minute when compared to the ability to plow a big parking lot, carry a small car or tow a small house. the 2008 super duty is not an all-new truck. Some body panels, engines and transmissions continue. But many aspects more substantial than the front-end styling have changed. It has a new interior in five different flavors from hose-out to leather lux, a new diesel engine, more added features, and should cost less based on equipment than the outgoing model. and in a first for any major pickup manufacturer ford has added a medium-duty pickup, the f-450, to the line. The super duty line can haul from one ton to three. It can tow from three tons to more than twelve. It can carry three to six real-world people with room to spare. And the door pockets, glovebox, and console will hold more stuff than some sports cars' trunks. Almost every permutation is built. Exceptions: the king ranch version is offered only on crew cabs, the f-450 is long-bed crew cab only, and the fx4 trim is not offered on 2wd, any f-450, or with a regular cab. a 5. 4-liter v8 with 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque is standard on all models up to the f-350 crew cab drw, which has the 362-hp, 457 lb-ft 6. 8-liter v10 standard. Both the v10 and 6. 4-liter diesel (350 hp, 650 lb-ft) are optional across the f-250/f-350 spectrum, but the diesel is the only engine offered on f-450. A six-speed manual is standard, a five-speed automatic available. the base xl is commercial in nature, with vinyl seats and flooring, black painted grille and bumpers, plain trim, am/fm stereo, and a weight-appropriate receiver hitch. Options include mechanical upgrades (engine, limited-slip differential, larger tires, traction control, camper package, off-road package for 4wd, tow command, etc.), air conditioning, auxiliary switches, reverse sensors, and a tailgate step. xlt trim adds chrome trim and wheels, 40/20/40 cloth front seat, carpet, ac, cd player, power windows/locks/mirrors, tilt wheel and cruise control. Options include aluminum wheels, captain's chairs w/power and heat, audiophile sound system, adjustable pedals, sport trim package, moonroof, and rear-seat dvd entertainment. the fx4 off-road model adds 18-inch wheels and lt275/70r18 all-terrain tires, standard limited-slip, skid plates, fog lamps, security system, overhead console, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Options include 20-inch wheels, navigation/audiophile system, sirius radio, and power telescope/fold heated dual-element towing mirrors. lariat trim (n/a on regular cabs) adds polished wheels, leather power seats, dual-zone climate control, trip computer, redundant sound/climate controls on wheel, woodgrain trim, illuminated visor mirrors, privacy glass and a sliding rear window. Dimensions are easily given in yards rather than inches. The color of the side vent gives away if it is gasoline or diesel-powered. given its fender flares and dark snout, the fx4 is the most aggressive trim style, though no super duty would be mistaken for anything less than a full-size pickup even with nothing scalable within sight. New towing mirrors include signal repeaters that won't distract the driver; they telescope and fold (manual or powered), and include two large reflective elements for safe rear vision with the widest street-legal trailers. an optional tailgate step pops a 16. 7 x 4. 5-inch step with a half-ton load rating out of the tailgate and raises a grab handle rated at 300 pounds to make the climb safer. It also includes an assist so the very heavy tailgate feels less heavy. The handle makes bed access easier but may need to be lowered again to slide a load in, and removing the gate, as is often the case with some trailers, may become a two-person chore. interiorwith three-and-a-half feet of headroom and just shy of six feet of shoulder room, the ford super duty cab is massive. Materials are job appropriate: no carpet mats for commercial or trail duty, and appear well assembled. The king ranch version brings a little lincoln to a pickup while the base model could be cleaned out with a bucket of warm water. On upper-end models, the gear-cog-like chrome surrounds for vents and gauges can create some unwelcome reflections, and the number of textures and colors (we counted up to eight) may be too much for design minimalists. the interior has been restyled for 2008. The dash is now segmented in three smaller parts for a more manageable look. The center stack houses a pair of large vents, radio and navigation top center where easily viewed, climate control, and most switchgear. Side steps are available. We noted a marked reduction in wind/cab noise around the center pillar in the supercab, and the better sealing means that big front door requires a solid yank to close with all windows up. The short shifter for the automatic is less effort but more precise than before. The headlights can be turned off for good neighborly night-time entries to campgrounds or drive-ins. the ventilation system is capable of cooling or heating the cavernous volume and keeping forward windows and mirrors clear, and seat heaters are very effective; a supplemental cab heater is available for diesel models. the navigation system is fairly intuitive and will be familiar to ford family drivers. ford's tow command integrated trailer brake system is easy to set up and provides better, smoother trailer braking control than any aftermarket controller.

The 2013 f-250 is available as a 4x2 or a 4x4, has three different cab configurations, and has three trims available. The rugged and reliable xl, the well equipped xlt, and the luxurious lariat. Two engine choices include a standard 6. 2-liter 385-hp triton v8 with 405 lb.-ft. Of torque or the optional and innovative 6. 7-liter turbo 400-hp v8 powerstroke diesel with 800 lb.-ft. Both engines are mated to a new torqshift six-speed automatic transmission with selectshift and a tow/haul mode. Available features include a supplemental cab heater, a reverse camera system, upfitter switches, a navigation system, a remote start system, satellite radio and a rear folding tailgate step. Also, the unique ford work solution options provide innovative solutions for trucks used in the work place. For 2013, the ford f-250 adds new exterior paint colors for all trims and the new extravagant platinum package is available on the 4x4 crew cab models. The xlt trim has new standard equipment which includes sync, a compass and the power windows now have a one-touch up and one-touch down feature for the front driver and front passenger. The lariat trim has new standard equipment which includes a 200 amp alternator, sync with myford touch, a sony audio system, a rear parking camera and a one-touch up and one-touch down feature for the front driver and front passenger.
